Mini Series: Mixing Patterns

5:00 PM

Mixing patterns can be difficult, but don't think its impossible. We have two important pieces of advice to keep in mind when you're mixing patterns: balance out louder patterns with simpler ones, and make sure that both patterns have a common color or are in the same color family.
Lexie balanced out her bright plaid skirt with her simple polka dot button up. The polka dots in her shirt are blue to tie in with the blue in her skirt. Emily balanced out her bold floral skort with a basic striped t-shirt. The black and white stripes on the shirt bring out the black and white in her skort. The patterns featured in Claire's outfit are smaller and more simple. They both have white in them and her gray sweater tones down the bright yellow in her button up.
When it comes to mixing patterns, the possibilities are endless!
