What we wear to class at FIT

Going to school at the Fashion Institute of Technology definitely puts more pressure on us when we are getting ready for class every day, but we wouldn't want it any other way! We don't really see very many casual outfits, like the leggings and sweatshirts you may see around typical colleges. But being in an environment where we have more freedom to express ourselves through our clothing is a great part of going to FIT. It's also important to dress nicely because all of our professors have jobs in the industry and you never know what opportunities may come up in the future.
Everyone at FIT has their own individual style, and you can see that in our outfits too. Some days we might want to dress up a little bit more like you can see in Emily D. and Lexie's outfits. Other days we might dress down, but still look put together like Emily S. and Claire's outfits. Emily S. also doesn't like to wear anything too crazy that would get in the way of her taking pictures in her classes.
We love going to a school where we don't feel like we're being judged because we're "too dressed up" (this is NEVER the truth) and where we can continue to expand our style.
