Claire's Favorite Spot: Washington Square Park

If you're visiting NYC, I definitely recommend making time to take a walk through Washington Square park. The reasons I love this park are the great location, the appearance, and its liveliness.
You might recognize the big arches reminiscent of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but another great attraction is the large fountain in the center of the park. Surrounding the center are tree-lined walkways with plenty of benches to sit and read. If you're looking for something more exciting, there are almost always street performers in Washington Square Park, from artists to musicians to dancers.
The best part about visiting this park, however, is that it is in the middle of the city; walk a few blocks and you're in the West Village, with plenty of shops and restaurants to end your day.
