Because Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday this year, it's a great day to do brunch. For this meal, it is refreshing to keep your color palette light (note Emily's summer brunch outfit); the blush pants also add a fun touch of pink for the holiday. A white button front shirt keeps the outfit clean and simple, and the combo makes a great outfit for a daytime date. To keep the outfit balanced she chose a light toned snakeskin pump. We definitely suggest a pointed toe as it is more feminine, especially if you choose to do a flat or low heel.

Dinner

When going out for a romantic dinner, you don't have to wear the classic red and pink. Statistic from Rent the Runway have surprisingly shown that red and pink are actually out this year (WhoWhatWear article on the matter found here). Lexie chose to dress up her striped fitted dress. The tight fit allows it to be sexy while the neckline and length keep it classy. The midi length is also on trend, and the tight fit makes it more flattering for a wider range of body types. Add a clutch and a fun pair of pumps to dress it up, and you're ready to go.

GNO

Emily's look for a V-day girls night out is super fun. Her fringe top is more playful than romantic which makes it great for a night out. The tuxedo pants balance out the top to make the look more sophisticated. To add a pop to the black outfit she chose a leopard pair of kitten heels--kitten heels are a great way to stay comfy all night. She finished her look with a clutch and her everyday watch and rings.

The first trick is finding the skirt that works for you. There are many different shapes and materials available in the midi length, but if you don't pick a style you're truly comfortable with, it will be harder to style with the clothes you already have. The minute I saw this one I fell in love with it; I liked the fact that it wasn't tight, but wasn't too full. The fabric hangs down, but the pleating gives it more shape. The stripes and thinner fabric also makes it more casual.

When it came to styling, I knew I wanted to go sporty, and what better way than to throw on a pair of sneakers! My shoes along with the denim jacket were a perfect casual balance to the natural femininity of the skirt. For a pop of color I've been into neck ties recently! I like to mix patterns so I chose this red plaid one, but any color bandana would work really well also.

I know that trends can be intimidating, but it's really about finding the right way to incorporate it into your wardrobe. Never compromise your personal style for a trend, because you never know how long it will last. My best advice is to wear what makes you comfortable and confident, and you'll look fabulous no matter what.

It's impossible to not love the two-piece set comeback! They are such an easy and fun way to look chic. This striped, rib knit set from Zara is so comfy and is easily dressed up or down just by a change of shoes.

The black and white stripes make for a seamless transition into sporty when paired with my white Adidas. Comfy shoes make it a great go-to for running errands, going to class, or even just taking a walk through the park.

Adding a black pump takes this set to the next level. It lengthens the leg while incorporating a clean finish with the long pencil skirt. This is a great look for date night, or possibly even for work when topped with a blazer.

When considering a two-piece set, I always like the patterned ones best. I feel as though they look more cohesive rather than just wearing to pieces that are the same color. They also make more of a statement. Yet, any two-piece set can be fabulous when done right! We believe that these are becoming a closet must-have for this season and the next seasons to come!

Stripes are a classic that can be done so many different ways with so many different looks, especially when kept neutral with black and white.
Claire's striped dress from Urban Outfitters takes a more 20's inspired look with a drop waist.
Meanwhile, Lexie tones down her striped crop top with a pair of high waisted, fitted black tailored pants.
With her dress from Zara, Emily plays with mixing stripe directions, giving a different take on the plain striped T-shirt dress.
You would be surprised how many variations there are on the classic horizontal! One piece of advice we have when wearing stripes: don't listen to the myth! Stripes can be flattering on all shapes and sizes, you just have to find the type that is right for you. Typically, thinner stripes are more flattering for slim body types, while thicker stripes look great on an hourglass figure!
Whatever season you're shopping for, stripes can always be incorporated into your wardrobe!
