Claire accented her windowpane sweater with a white button up and combined this with her leather jacket. Leather jackets are great for layering because they aren't too bulky, but are warmer than a cardigan or jean jacket.
Lexie transitioned her light grey dress by adding a cardigan, thigh-highs, and an over-sized scarf. Her grey monochrome layers keep her outfit polished while the pink scarf is a fun pop! Scarves are something you can add to any outfit as a layering piece, and are easy to take off or tie around your bag when its too warm. We like bulky ones because they create more of a statement piece.
Emily chose to layer under her olive vest; vests are great for this weather because while your torso is warm your free arms will balance your body temp. Also wearing a pullover over a button up is an easy way to add an extra layer of warmth.
What's great about outfits like these are that they will keep you comfortably warm in the fall, but are also easy to throw your winter coat over once we move into the winter months.

My favorite way to tuck in my shirt is the Front Tuck. I use this tuck most often because it keeps whatever outfit I'm wearing casual, but still shows off my waistline. In these pictures, I tucked my sweater into jeans, but I also love doing it with my more oversized t-shirts.
Oversized shirts have a tendency to look frumpy when they aren't tucked in. The front tuck can make things look finished, polished, and chic.
Tucking in your shirt can totally change the way your completed outfit looks. We hope that through this series we inspire you to use one of the three tucks next time you get dressed!

The "Half-Tuck" is probably the least common way to tuck in a shirt and the hardest to pull off, however I personally love to do this with my button-down shirts. It's an easy way to make your look more casual, but still balance out your proportions by not hiding your waist-line. I recommend wearing a belt when you do this tuck to make your outfit a little more put-together.
Also, when doing this style always remember to pul the tucked side out slightly--you don't want the shirt tight against your stomach, because it will look less proportionate with the untucked side. For the same reason, choose a shirt that isn't too long, or if it is, go with a lower waisted pant.
Next time you're feeling ambitious with your outfit, definitely try styling your button-down this way!

This week we wanted to share some different ways to tuck your shirt. To start things off I chose the classic All-Around Tuck.
Tucking shirts this way is probably the easiest do and is always a great go-to. I love this tuck because it is so versatile, you can do it with a t-shirt, a button down, or even a sweater, tucked into a skirt or pants.
When doing this all-around tuck, I've found it is always best when wearing a fuller bottom. It helps to give the body some shape by accentuating the waist, while giving the outfit a clean finish. All-around tucks are good when going for a more girly, dressy, or professional look. This is also going to be the most flattering for a wider range of body types, because it will define the waist, giving the illusion of an hour-glass figure, so this is a safe bet if you're not sure what to do.
Be sure to check back for two more ways to tuck in your shirt!
